Facts about your penis
Here are several interesting facts about your penis that you may have not discovered yet.
1. Your penis is actually longer than you think
Most guys would be proud to know about this. In fact a guy's penis is double the length of what you see on the outside. Half the length of the penis is actually inside the body and tucked neatly in the pelvis and attached to the pubic bone.
Penises size vary in length and circumference when flaccid and erect. In comparison to other primates including gorillas, the human penis is the thickest, both in absolute terms and relative to the rest of the body.
The average length of an erect penis is 13.12 cm (5.17 inches) long, while the average circumference of an erect penis is 11.66 cm (4.59 inches). Flaccid penis length can sometimes be a poor predictor of erect length ('grow-er versus show- er')
Most human penis growth actually occurs between infancy and the age of five, and between about one year after the onset of puberty and at latest, approximately 17 years of age.
2. You can actually break your penis.
Yes, it is possible to break your penis despite no bone present inside your penis. It most commonly occurs during vigorous sex and with certain sex's position (sexual partner on top), although it has been documented to happen to men who fell out of bed with an erection.
Penile fracture, as it is known, is actually the rupture of the fibrous covering of the corpora cavernosa, which is the tissue that becomes erect when engorged with blood.
A fracture of the penis is often described as a pop or a cracking sound when it happens and it can cause significant bleeding into the penile fibrous and skin layer leaving you with frightening bruise and significant pain and swelling. Full function can be restored if treated immediately.
3. Your penis may be a 'grower' or a 'show-er'
A penis that doesn't gain much length with an erection has become known as a 'show-er' and a penis that gains a lot is said to be a 'grow-er.' There is no consistent relationship between the size of the flaccid penis and its full erect length. A shorter flaccid penis can double its size when fully erected.
4. Start paying attention to your 'early - morning wood'
'Early- morning wood' or nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) refers to an erect penis when you woke up in the morning and it is not as a result of sexual arousal or having a dream relating to sex. Most men will have 3 to 5 erections every single night, mostly during REM sleep. This is an indication of a normal functioning male reproductive system.
If a guy do not get their early morning wood, this can be an indication of health issue such as erectile dysfunction and hormonal issues such as testosterone deficiency
5. It can undergo shrinkage
Penis shrinkage is a decrease in penis size. Sometimes, the shrinkage is permanent, and other times, it is the result of a treatable condition or lifestyle.
With ageing, both penis and testis can undergo shrinkage. This is also attributed by other various unhealthy lifestyle factors such as smoking, lack of exercise, being overweight and obesity, presence of chronic diseases that cause poor blood flow to the genital such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol as well as erectile dysfunction and Peyronie's disease.
